Skylight Cleaning and Roof Maintenance Vancouver WA Guide
Skylights are one of the best features in a home — until they get covered in moss and dirt and stop letting in that nice natural light.
I’ve been cleaning roofs since 2020 (ProSoaks since 2022), and skylights need special attention because they sit right in the roof and can become a weak point if not maintained.

Dirty skylights don’t just look bad — they block light and can develop leaks around the flashing if moss grows against the seals.
The safe way to clean skylights is with low-pressure soft wash combined with careful hand cleaning on the glass. We never blast them with high pressure because that can damage the seals or force water underneath.
We also check the flashing and seals around the skylight during every roof cleaning. Small problems here can turn into big leaks during winter rains.

Real Vancouver WA Example
A homeowner in the Orchards had two skylights that were so covered in moss you could barely see through them. Water was starting to seep around the edges. We did a full soft wash on the roof and carefully cleaned the skylights. The difference in light coming into the house was dramatic, and the leaks stopped.
We recommend including skylight cleaning whenever you do your roof maintenance. It’s much more effective than trying to clean them separately.
