If they say they “turn the pressure down,” that is still a pressure washer. Ask them to describe the process. You want roof cleaning that does not chew up the surface.
2. Are you licensed and insured?
Ask for proof. A roof job involves ladders, wet ground, and someone on your house. If something goes wrong, you want a company that is actually covered — not a verbal “don’t worry about it.”
3. What does the quote include?
Get it in plain language:
The whole roof, or only the spots you can see from the street
Valleys, edges, and moss hanging toward the gutters
Whether gutter cleaning is included or extra
Plant and landscape protection
Haul-away versus leaving debris in the yard
A cheap number that skips valleys and downspouts is not the same job.
4. Do you look at the roof in person?
Photos and satellite views are fine for a starting point. Thick moss, worn shingles, and a bad ladder set do not always show up that way. A company that will walk the property and tell you if the roof is even worth cleaning is worth more than one that only texts a price.
5. What warranty do you put on the moss work?
